Esley Stahl is originally from Chicago, Illinois. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Most recently she completed her Masters of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing at Roosevelt University. During this time, she wrote her thesis in creative non-fiction and completed her certification in the teaching of writing.

Currently, she is an instructor of English at the College of Lake County.
